Jody Smith
Mrs. Smith has been the First Assistant to Mr. Bell, beginning her legal career in 2005. Mrs. Smith came to the Law Offices of James A.H. Bell, P.C. after a four year stint at the Claiborne County Circuit Court Clerk’s office as Deputy Clerk. That foundation experience coupled with her education at Walters State Community College (Legal Assistant Degree, 2003), has exponentially advanced the interests of the Law Offices of James A.H. Bell, P.C. As the Deputy Clerk of Claiborne County, Tennessee, Mrs. Smith functioned within and outside the courtroom assisting judges of that particular judicial district.
Her professional relationships with the judiciary, the prosecutors, and both civil and criminal lawyers have been maintained throughout her employment with the Law Offices of James A.H. Bell, P.C. These skills have enabled the lawyers to quickly and efficiently move the business of the cases along the legal path towards a successful conclusion of the case. Mrs. Smith works tirelessly as a paralegal for Mr. Bell, and other members of the trial team. She works closely with Mr. Cooper, the Investigator, and Mrs. Ledford, the Operations Manager on virtually every criminal case that the firm has accepted the defense. Mrs. Smith often accompanies Mr. Bell to court on criminal cases, and works with the trial team to ensure that there is an orderly operation in the trial theatre for the client’s best interest.
